“I am a bit drained. I'm going to take a long, long break. I’ve done three films in two years and I’m just worn out.” Leonardo DiCaprio, BILDLeonardo DiCaprio, whose quote in Germany's BILD had been much cited and interpreted as evidence that Leo's leaving the movie business, was as silly as it sounded. Besides having screen adaptations of both Dennis Lehane's Live by Night and Erik Larson's Devil in the White City somewhere in the development pipeline, he signed on just last week to produce and star in another adaption. The new film is The Road Home based on the upcoming novel from Michael Armour. Scott Cooper, an actor/writer/director hybrid - he wrote and directed the acclaimed screen adaptation of Thomas Cobb's Crazy Heart which took the Writer's Guild Best Adaptation prize in 2010 - is on board to write, direct and produce along with Leonardo's own company, Appian Way.
Armour's book is said to be a Depression-era story set on the coast of Central California. A rancher name Creek (Leo) who tries to help solve a local murder gets mixed up in a scandal involving local police trying to bury the case. The book doesn't come out until the fall*. God knows when the movie will come out. God and Leo.
